Searching & Filtering

The M-580 map provides powerful search and filter capabilities to help you find specific units.

The search box is located at the top of the sidebar.

  1. Click in the search box
  2. Type any part of a unit name
  3. The list filters instantly as you type
  4. Click the × button to clear the search

Partial Matching

Search is case-insensitive and matches any part of the unit name. Searching for "national" will show all National Forests.

Agency Filters

Filter buttons allow you to show only units from a specific agency.

Available Filters

All All units (default)
USFS US Forest Service National Forests and Regional Offices
BLM Bureau of Land Management Districts and State Offices
NPS National Park Service Parks and Preserves
BIA Bureau of Indian Affairs Regional Offices and Reservations
Tribal Tribal Nations and Confederated Tribes

Using Filters

  1. Click any filter button in the header
  2. The active filter is highlighted
  3. The unit list updates immediately
  4. Click All to reset

Combining Search and Filter

Search and filters work together:

Filter: USFS + Search: "mountain"
→ Shows: Green Mountain NF (but not other "mountain" units)

No Results

If no units match your search/filter combination:

Try:

  • Checking your spelling
  • Using fewer search terms
  • Resetting the agency filter to "All"
  • Clearing the search box

Unit Count

The sidebar displays all matching units. The current data includes:

Data Coverage

The map shows units for the 50 M-580 January 2026 participants. Some participants share the same home unit, so the total unique units is less than 50.
